Hey, everybody needs a purple pickup truck, right?
Alfa Romeo GT 3.2 V6 | Audi A3 3.2 Quattro DSG | Audi TT Sport |
Chevrolet SSR | Saturn Sky | Volkswagen Golf R32 |
The Audi TT is very nicely modeled. Many of the other car meshes have a visibly-segmented fender lip, but the Audi is very smooth. Of course, its whole design was based on intersecting simple curves, so it's a good thing the developers put extra effort into it.
So far, my favorite in class E is the 350Z Nismo, to which I've added a couple of performance upgrade packages. But I had to switch to the Audi S4, upgraded as well, to get the gold cup in that annoying Angel's Drop timed checkpoint race.
Audi A6 4.2 Quattro | Audi S4 Cabriolet | Jaguar XK |
Jaguar XK Convertible | Mustang GT | Mustang GT Convertible |
Nissan 350Z Coupe | 350Z Nismo S-Tune | Pontiac GTO |
NEW Skyline GTR R34 |
The Cadillac XLR-V looks pretty nice but has an interesting graphical glitch. The driver's seatbelt goes up across one's chest, then forward to the windshield. Oops.
The Saleen S281 is an aftermarket conversion of the Mustang GT. A good concept to build into the game, but the wheels have an annoying bug. If you purchase a base Mustang with anything other than the standard rims, after converting it into a Saleen the wheels will look like the ones on the green Coupe. No shiny rim. Buy the standard base wheels and the upgrade will work properly, like ones on the Saleen Roadster. Yeah, that purple is pretty intense. If you're going for flash, might as well go all the way.
The TVR Sagaris is a "...whaaa???" car. Just look at all the slits and vents and transparent spoiler and huge pipes. Way too much going on. But the hands-down ugliest car in the game is the Spyker.
The Ford Shelby GR-1 Concept car has a special "paint job" available, namely polished aluminum. Looks very cool, but makes it harder to take nice photos.
The disappointment of this class is the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Not only is it rather awkwardly modeled (look at the windshield A-pillars!) but it handles like an angry rhino -- charges like crazy, then snaps uncontrollably when asked to change direction.
Chrysler ME 4-12 | Ferrari Enzo | Koenigsegg CC8S |
Lamborghini Murciélago | Maserati MC12 | McLaren F1 |
McLaren F1 GTR | Mercedes SLR McLaren | Pagani Zonda C12S |
Saleen S7 Twin Turbo |
The Saleen S7 isn't much better. It feels like an over-powered pickup truck. That is, not nearly enough rear traction, and once the back end steps out, it's difficult to bring back smoothly. This leads to vicious fish-tailing and ultimately visiting a road-side tree.
The Pagani Zonda has one of those cool custom paint jobs available, a flat black. Too bad the car sounds weird. Not that I've actually heard a real one, but for a car costing close to a half-million, hopefully it sounds better than it does in the game!
This class contains many of the older historical sports cars and muscle cars. While they may not be the fastest vehicles in the game, quite often they are the most interesting.
AC 289 | Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato | Camaro Z/28 |
Corvette Stingray | Jaguar XKE | Lamborghini Muira SV |
Maserati 3500 GT | Mercedes 300SL Gullwing | Pontiac Firebird |
Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe | Shelby GT500 |
Like every other TDU player on the planet, I tried to paint the Shelby GT500 so it looked something like "Eleanor" from Gone in Sixty Seconds. And of course I had to make the Firebird as close to a Smokey and the Bandit replica as possible. It's too bad we can't paint the wheels gold, but at least the screamin' chicken is there.
It's hard to get a good shot of that Jag XKE when it's painted in such a dark color. So I repainted it a classic pale blue for the shot on the previous page.
While we're here, I guess I might as well toss in the bikes I've collected too, starting with the slower Motorcycle-B class.
Motorcycle-A, otherwise known as the crotch-rocket class.
