Ex-Canadian National FP9A (#6518) was assigned to VIA Rail by the time this photo
was taken at Brockville, Ont. in July 1976. Another FP9A (#6516) waiting just behind
has already been repainted in the VIA scheme current at the time. The train originated
in Toronto and is about to be split into two, with one section heading for Ottawa
and the other continuing on to Montreal.
The track heading off on the far right soon curves back and decends into Canada's first
railway tunnel, built in 1860, connecting with downtown Brockville. The track is now
gone and the tunnel shuttered.
